VX Africa

VX Africa

Bakaze Robert
VX was started in Africa by a young man called Bakaze Robert who found VX on the Internet and wanted to introduce it to his home country of Uganda.
Craig and Paul visited Uganda in 2012, had several meetings, visited schools, qualified coaches and ran the first African Nations Championships!
Robert is now keen to help spread VX through other countries in Africa.

Progress

Since getting VX started in Africa there has been a lot of progress.  Uganda has sent players abroad the the World Cups, has sent players abroad for a friendly, has sent coaches to the UK for further VX education and how has a patron and a Centre of Excellence.  VX is also now running in Kenya and Robert is pursuing interest in Rwanda, Tanzania, South Africa, Zimbabwe and Egypt!

Global VX Africa Project

Global VX are keen to support VX Africa in their aim to grow VX across Africa and are trying to raise funds to help them grow.  We need to raise funds to support them with a vehicle, an office, a salary, pay to send equipment and coaches down there.  We are also looking to partner with a university so that we can send students down each year.    We are also keen to see twinnings between UK schools and African schools and we have had interest expressed from orphanages and refugee camps.

VX is a great, inclusive, vehicle and our aim is to help people get more independence by qualifying as coaches and then working in schools and communities as VX coaches.

So far we have managed to twin the Ripon VX Club with the Canaan VX Club and Ripon have donated equipment.  We have also had some equipment donated and sent to an orphanage in Kampala.

This is a major project for us but we feel it is exceptionally important.  VX brings a lot of benefits and it would be great to use this amazing sport as a vehicle to help communities and individuals
